Aaron Robertson is a graduate from Towson University, where he earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Performance/Choreography. He currently works as a banker by day and really enjoys playing in competitive volleyball tournaments throughout the country.

Pterodactyl (because of the Pink Power Ranger)

Do you have any pets?

I have a miniature black Poodle and his name is Simba.

Tell us about your dance background and training.

I started dancing when I got to college my freshman year. I trained under the direction of Runqiao Du/Catherine Horta Hayden (Ballet) and Linda Denise Fisher Harrell(Horton Technique) Vincent Thomas (Modern).

What genre of dance is your favorite? Why?

I LOVE MODERN AND JAZZ! The movement style is so free and adds more layers of performance quality. Jazz is fun because of all the crazy combinations of turns and jumps coupled with musicality.

What's your favorite full length ballet/performance/variation? Why?

The Nutcracker! I finally was able to see it in person for the first time last year at the Washington Ballet in DC and it was SO MAGICAL! Definitely gave me a different idea and feeling reigniting the Christmas spirit I was wanting to find again!

Why do you dance?

I dance because it feeds my soul. It allows me to be vulnerable to others and to myself. Being able to physically manifest my thoughts and feelings when words are not enough, is a totally freeing and beautiful experience. Especially during this time, I am super grateful for the opportunities I get to share my voice through movement with others.

If you wear pointe shoes, what kind do you wear?

I wanna try pointe shoes! Lol but am not sure if I’d be able to find any in my size. As for flat shoes I wear the SoDanca brand in the SunTan color

What other jobs/activities/talents/passions do you pursue?

I work at a bank! I am also super passionate about Volleyball, I play lots of competitive adult tournaments locally and travel to different states to play as well.

What are you looking forward to this season with Ballet Embody?

I am looking forward to getting back in shape and moving through the space again. Also working with some the amazingly talented artists that are a part of this company and being able to share the stage with them!
